When it comes to taking care of your skin, it’s important to have both a morning and nighttime routine. In addition to the nighttime skin cycling routine we recommend, there are a few additional steps you can take in the morning to help keep your skin healthy and radiant throughout the day. This post will take you through all of our morning skin care routine essentials. Be sure to also check out our skin care favorites!
Vitamin C
One essential ingredient for your morning routine is vitamin C. This powerful antioxidant helps protect the skin from damaging free radicals and environmental stressors. It has also been proven to brighten and even skin tone. However, vitamin C is notoriously unstable and can easily break down when exposed to light, air, and heat.
To ensure that your vitamin C serum remains effective, look for products that are packaged in airtight, opaque containers and have a pH of 3.5 or lower. Additionally, try to use your vitamin C serum as soon as possible after opening, and store it in a cool, dark place to help extend its shelf life.
Ceramide Moisturizer
In addition to vitamin C, it’s also important to choose a moisturizer that contains ceramides for your morning routine. Ceramides are naturally occurring lipids that help protect and strengthen the skin barrier, which can become weakened by exposure to harsh environmental factors like pollution and UV radiation.
By incorporating a ceramide moisturizer into your morning routine, you can help keep your skin hydrated and protected throughout the day. Look for products that contain a blend of different ceramides, like ceramide NP, ceramide AP, and ceramide EOP, as well as other skin-loving ingredients like niacinamide and hyaluronic acid.
SPF
It’s important to note that no skincare routine is complete without sun protection. Applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 should be a non-negotiable step in your morning routine. This is true regardless of the weather or your activities for the day. By consistently protecting your skin from the sun, you’ll not only prevent damage but also preserve the health and youthful appearance of your skin.
Skin Care Action Item: After cleansing your skin, pat dry and apply vitamin C serum. You can use the Vitamin C alone or follow up with a hydrating hyaluronic acid serum. Then apply your ceramide moisturizer. Most importantly, finish with an SPF!
